Guildhall Jazz Orchestra presents a collaboration with one of the most important contemporary American composers marrying jazz with Western neoclassical music, Billy Childs.

This event features three of Childs’ original compositions: Rejoice, Dreams and Maybe Later, alongside his arrangements of songs by revered and influential songwriter Laura Nyro orchestrated by Jim McNeely – including New York Tenderberry, And When I Die and Stoned Soul Picnic.

Over the course of a glittering career, Childs has worked with, amongst many others, Freddie Hubbard, Joe Henderson, Wynton Marsalis, LA Philharmonic, Detroit Symphony, Renee Fleming, Yo-Yo Ma, Wayne Shorter, Alison Kraus, Dianne Reeves, Chris Botti, Esperanza Spalding, Lisa Fischer, Susan Tedeschi, Rickie Lee Jones, Shawn Colvin, Ledesi, Becca Stevens, Chris Potter, Brian Blade, Steve Wilson and Jerry Douglas.
