Monumentality: having the quality of being larger than life; of heroic scale.
This exhibition will feature a series of moody, almost abstract, pinhole photographs capturing the brutality of the modern structures of the Barbican estate, the crumbling windmills of the Norfolk broads, and historically significant castles. Yant's work draws inspiration from a strange mix: the atmospheric film ‘A Field in England' by Ben Wheatley, and the distinctive look and feel of the computer games ‘Inside' and ‘Limbo,' crafted by the indie developer Playdead.
From the distorted architecture to wind softened skies, Yant gives a fresh perspective to these monumental subjects. Please note that the library is closed on Sundays and will be closed for the bank holiday on Monday 26 August.
