Tom Sleigh has been re-elected to serve a fourth year as Chair of the City of London Corporation’s Barbican Centre Board.

The body is responsible for overseeing the Barbican Centre – one of Europe's leading arts venues, and among the UK’s greatest architectural achievements, recognised globally as a Brutalist icon.

Tom is Group Corporate Affairs Director at The Bank of London.

He represents the ward of Bishopsgate in the Square Mile and sits on the City Corporation’s Policy and Resources Committee, its Culture, Heritage and Libraries Committee, and its Finance Committee.

An international arts and learning centre rooted in its neighbourhood, the Barbican Centre showcases all major art forms including dance, film, music, theatre, and visual arts, attracting two million visitors a year.

The venue is home to two art galleries, two theatres, three cinemas, a concert hall, a library, conference facilities, and a conservatory. It also runs a series of programmes which support emerging creative talent.

The City Corporation is working with the Barbican Centre on the Barbican Renewal project - a multi-million-pound upgrade of the site.

And the centre is set to play a leading role in the City Corporation’s Destination City programme, which aims to make the Square Mile a world-leading leisure destination for UK and global visitors, workers, and residents to enjoy.

The City Corporation is the owner, founder, and principal funder of the Barbican Centre. It is the fourth largest funder of heritage and cultural activities in the UK and invests over £130m every year.
