Learn the art of mixing and celebrate International Women's Day at this DJ workshop hosted in collaboration with DJ collective Sisu.
Ever fancied taking a turn on the decks and mixing songs yourself? Join community-led, grassroots collective Sisu at this special DJ workshop just for Members and Young Barbican to commemorate International Women's Day on 8 March.
Sisu are passionate about diversifying the music industry and empowering those who are underrepresented amongst DJs. Whilst this event is open to everyone, we strongly encourage those who identify as women or non-binary to join this workshop and will aim to ensure at least 50% of tickets go to this group.
You'll learn about preparing music files, beat-matching, and mixing techniques on Pioneer CDJs. You don't have to bring anything with you, all equipment will be provided - however if you have a USB with your music feel free to bring it.
This is a great opportunity to meet other people interested in electronic music and the art of mixing. You'll also have the chance to advance your skills at an intermediate workshop on 10 May. Plus, enjoy an evening of live mixing, drinks and networking in the Lounge at a later date.
Tickets are very limited for this event, to allow for everyone to have maximum amount of time on the decks. You can bring a maximum of done guest for this event, they must have their own ticket. A restricted capacity of tickets is available to Young Barbican.
The workshop will run for approximately 3 hours from 6.30-9.30pm.
