Members are invited to an after-hours curator's tour of Postwar Modern. 

Postwar Modern: New Art in Britain 1945-65 is an ambitious and timely reassessment of art produced in Britain during the twenty years after a cataclysmic war when artists had to make sense of an entirely altered world. Focusing on ‘the new’, the exhibition features 48 artists and around 200 works of painting, sculpture, photography, collage, and installation

Join this tour to hear Assistant Curator, Charlotte Flint give an insight into the research and themes behind this major exhibition and use the opportunity to ask her your questions.

There are two slots for this event, 6.30pm and 7.15pm, the tour will last approximately 30 minutes. 

Tickets are £5 per person for Barbican Members and Members Plus.

Members are welcome to bring a guest, they will need their own ticket.

Charlotte Flint is an Assistant Curator at the Barbican Art Gallery, where she has worked on Jean Dubuffet: Brutal Beauty (2021), Toyin Ojih Odutola: A Countervailing Theory (2020), Lee Krasner: Living Colour (2019) and Another Kind of Life: Photography on the Margins (2018). Prior to joining the Barbican, she worked at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, as an assistant curator, and at the Hayward Gallery, London.

Postwar Modern: Artist Spotlight

Curatorial Assistant Michal Goldschmidt introduces four artists from the exhibition: Anwar Jalal Shemza, Franciszka Themerson, Kim Lim and Shirley Baker. Drawing from their own writings, she shines a light on their life and work.
