Based on the life of Martha Jane Cannary – aka Calamity Jane – this new animation introduces us to fearless heroine and her fight to be accepted for who she wants to be.
Fearless, feisty and prone to calling people ‘dungheads’, Jane doesn’t fit into any of the boxes that her fellow settlers want to put her in. Dressing in trousers and cutting her hair short, draws even more attention and when she’s accused of theft, she must escape punishment and clear her name.
From the makers of Long Way North, this wonderful film for young audiences explores prejudice, identity and bravery in a beautiful American West setting.
We’re delighted to welcome Professor Karen Jones of Kent University and author of Calamity: The Many Lives of Calamity Jane (2020) to give a recorded introduction to the film. She’ll be giving us some history, some facts and some fiction on Martha Jane Cannary and how she became the America West legend.

Adults can only come if they’re bringing a child, and children can only come along if accompanied by an adult. If you’re over 18, we’re afraid being a ‘big kid’ doesn’t count.
