Forget Me Not: Reassembling the Barbican Archives, is a response to the process of institutional forgetting and an exploration into the implications of curating the past. This exhibition showcases work from the archives alongside newly commissioned work from other young creatives.
The Young Curators group is made up of thirteen young creatives who have been exploring archives and curation in the context of the Barbican Art Centre and Guildhall School of Music & Drama. The group has been using the newly founded Barbican archives as the primary material for their curatorial practice. Throughout the programme they have collaborated with archivists, curators and mentors from across the Barbican and other London based institutions to explore the potential of archival material.
This event runs from 12-6pm, on Saturday and Sunday.
This show has been supported by the Barbican Creative Learning Department in collaboration with the archival team at the Barbican. The Young Curators programme is part of Barbican Guildhall Creative Learning’s work with Young Creatives. Creative Learning provides talent development opportunities that give 14-25 year old's the skills and confidence needed to progress in today's creative industries.
The Young Curators programme is supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
