Concrete Salon

Barbican Young Visual Arts Group

an illustration of bold colours on the Barbican concrete

Discover the work of the Barbican Young Visual Arts Group in an exhibition born out of the creative energy cultivated through collective exploration.

These young artists are brought together by a realisation that the world is not as they thought it would be. They recognise the unreliability of reality, yet are encouraged by their inner certainties in navigating the complexities of lived experience.

The Concrete Salon is where they meet up to converse. It is where architecture becomes host to new learning endeavours and a refuge for communal reflection. Individual practices are nurtured by a collective effort, while contemplations are materialised into constructions of aesthetic appreciation.

The founding members of the Concrete Salon are Sophia Blee, Phoebe Corker-Marin, Quentin Corker-Marin, Marie Dalle, Ufuoma Essi, Holly Farndell, Alexis Parinas, Natasia Patel, Anastasia Pevtsova, Shamica Ruddock, Nia Thomas, Viviane Vix, Harry Wakeling and Rebekka Yallop.
