Jazz vocalist Cécile McLorin Salvant redefines the Great American Songbook as she performs selections from her newest release The Window with pianist Sullivan Fortner.

Together, the two musicians play freely with time, harmony, melody and phrasing. McLorin Salvant’s vocals can turn on a dime, shifting from playful to powerful, while Fortner embraces classical, jazz and blues modes. At times, they sound like two friends in fervent conversation; at others, like sparring partners trading blows.

The repertoire includes songs by Stephen Sondheim, Stevie Wonder, gems of French cabaret, and early rhythm and blues, alongside the Grammy Award-winning McLorin Salvant’s brilliant original compositions, reinforced by her incredible vocal artistry and magnetic onstage persona.

Support comes from The McCormack & Yarde Duo featuring Andrew McCormack (piano) and Jason Yarde (saxes) who will be opening the show where a cross-genre of world music meets jazz and classical music.
